Ashley & Mike=Married

This is going to be huge. I mean this post is going to be huge. I honestly couldn’t help it. Ashley & Mike just had sooo many beautiful photographs. I really didn’t want to just show one or two. Somehow though I think Ashley will appreciate it :)

Ashley and Mike are two very special people. They have it all so to speak. They have each other and their gorgeous little girl, Sophia, and the happiness literally radiates off the both of them. They are so in love with each other and their little girl. I wish I could express the feelings I felt around them a little bit more eloquently, but I’ll guess I’ll sum it up by saying that I feel very blessed to have been able to witness Ashley and Mike’s wedding.

The day started out at The Hilton with some getting ready shots.

Ashley couldn’t stop smiling, while the wonderful Lori White did her makeup.

I normally post up a photo of the shoe shot, but I thought I’d mix it up and post, Sophia’s shoe shot:

I absolutely adore the next two images for being a little bit different than what you usually see out there.

After everyone was done getting ready, we headed on down to Lake Las Vegas, for a First Look. Ashley and Mike got married at 7pm which was too dark for naturally lit portraits, so they decided to do a First Look and do their portraits at that time. It worked out really well, and I HIGHLY recommend that if you are faced with time constraints for portraits that as a bride you opt to do a First Look. It was highly emotional and we had plenty of time to capture some jaw dropping portraits, plus Ashley and Mike didn’t have to miss their cocktail hour and only a tiny bit (ten minutes) of their reception for some quick nighttime portraits. Anyway, I won’t go on and on about how much I love First Looks. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

So cute right? You could feel the excitement from Mike in the air. We gave them about five minutes just to let them be together, and then it was on for some portraits. As Ashley was walking away from me, I looked up and noticed the potential for an amazing shot. Sometimes the moment passes too quickly, and I don’t catch it, but I’ve gotten to the point where I can almost see it coming. The light, the wind, everything just perfectly aligned, and I caught it! I was ecstatic to say the least.

I posted under Laura’s preview pics my version of this photo. This is Josh’s. I think both are equally yummy.

Josh took this really cool bridal party photo. He wanted it to look “mafiaesque”.

After that we traveled on to a different location of Lake Las Vegas, for some more portraits. Josh and I split up and he took portraits of Mike, and I did some of Ashley.

Did I mention how ridiculously beautiful Ashley is? This next photograph has just a teeny, tiny bit of retouching and that’s it!

I became obsessed with Ashley’s flowers, by Pam at The Palette. They were these cream roses and hypericum berries, and were so elegant and classic.

The guys had hypericum berry boutinnieres.

After we did their individuals it was time for a couple more bridal party photos.

Ashley’s bridesmaids were also just gorgeous.

This next image isn’t a “normal” bridal party photo, but I love how fresh and crisp it feels. Almost like a bridal magazine ad.

And just because we had a little bit more time. We squeezed a couple more bride and groom photos in, and I’m really happy we did.

And one last one:

After that off we went to Sunset Gardens, for a lovely candle lit ceremony, and reception. Ashley and Mike’s ceremony definitely had me tearing up. Especially during the vows…

I have sooo many great photos of their reception, but this post is already too long, so I guess I’ll have to do a second post. First I have to do a full length post of Laura’s wedding since she had a ton of gorgeous photos as well. For now I leave you with a single detail shot.

Okay and a sneak peak of the reception. This photograph was too cute to pass up:

This Is A Public Bride Announcement: Laura & Ryan=Married

This weekend Josh and I got to photograph not one, but two ultra fabulous weddings. Both completely unique but filled with that same lovely emotion otherwise known as love. I’ll post both weddings in the next two days, but I just wanted to let all the brides of Vegas who might read our blog know that currently the Vegas sign is under construction. GASP! I know right? The most requested photo by brides (other than drunk photos of guests heehee), is the infamous Vegas sign photo, and right now the Vegas sign is surrounded by tractors and dirt. Don’t worry though my lovely ladies, because we CAN work around this.

How did I find this out? Why on our Sunday wedding of course. In the limo…on the way to the sign…lol. Oh well. I know Laura, who was amazing by the way, looked worried, but hey when Vegas throws you lemons, you make a lemon drop martini. I’m sure Laura is dying to see how they turned out so on we go.

By the way who needs a fancy background anyway?

You have got to be kidding right? Photo booty was officially kicked in the photo above.

But I know Laura was sweating it so….

Not too shabby. And just in case you don’t want the beautiful dirt in the photo. We can always just skip it.

I don’t think anyone will ever know….

Plus who’s staring at the scenery in this photo?

Like I mentioned amazing right?

Although sometimes the background does add a little something’, somethin’.

In all seriousness. I know the Vegas sign construction is a total bummer, but don’t worry brides I know the photographers of Vegas can rise to the occasion and get some awesome images anyway! Laura and Ryan we had a fabulouso time even with the little construction snafu. We hope you guys are living it up in Vegas right now!!!

P.S.

I can’t leave Ashley and Mike without a sneak peak either. Enjoy!

To My Dearest Peanut…Happy Anniversay

Dear Husband,

I can’t believe it. It’s been a year (well technically a year and three days). Our first anniversary didn’t turn out quite like it was supposed to be. I’m sorry I caught bronchitis last week (from you I might add). There was no champagne, there were no roses, there was you, me, and your family eating chinese food from our favorite take out place. You gawked at your new Iphone, while I tried not to pass out from my cold. There was you telling me to go to bed, because you knew I wasn’t feeling well. I honestly wouldn’t of had it any other way, because what is more representative of marriage than the every day. I used to imagine our first anniversary when I was 17, and believe me it never involved me going to Best Buy three times to exchange a stupid car adapter for your Iphone. It involved the champagne and roses, not antibiotics, and yet nothing makes me happier than you. Whether that’s on the beaches of Hawaii or laughing at you suffering through another episode of Project Runway because you know I’m obsessed. I know I don’t say this often, but I truly, truly appreciate you. Everything about you from the way you dress, to the your taste in music, to how you won’t read your fortune cookie out loud because you think it won’t come true, and so this might be three days late, but now that I’m off the meds, I just want to let you know Honey, Happy Anniversary. May they only get better every year. I love you.

Mrs. Joshua Cohen

P.S. I’ll meet you in Disneyland on October 20th. You, me, and Mickey have a date.

Album Design Finished!

Tonight I finished the final design for Jessica and Jeff who were one of our lovely couples this year. Jessica and I totally collaborated on this design, and I think it came out beautifully thanks to her input. When you book us we give you two options. I can either predesign the album for you, or you can choose your top 75-100 photos, and I design the album around those images. Our standard albums come with 12 pages/24 sides, and although I tend to overdesign sometimes, we always cull the pages down to 12-14 pages and usually by then our brides choose the extra two pages anyway. Anyway, enough of the boring stuff. I want to show you the actual design!

Jessica and Jeff had a beautiful backyard ceremony and reception that was sooo much fun to shoot. As you can see I prefer a very clean and modern design, that way the focus is the actual photos. This puppy will go out to print tomorrow to our favorite wedding album company, Laguna Albums. They are based out of Laguna Beach, CA, and all of their albums are to die for.  Their albums are all flushmount, hand mounted albums with a ton of cover choices. I’m so excited to give Jessica and Jeff their album. It’s definitely worth the investment. They will now have a family heirloom that their little daughter will treasure for many years to come.
